Common Issues When Activating BMW Welcome Lights
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Welcome Lights do not activate | Incorrect FA coding or parameters not set | Recheck FA and ensure MAPPING_NEBELSCHW_L/R_PART_OF_WL set to Soft_On |
| Lights turn off too quickly or do not follow timing | Vehicle settings overridden by other modules | Verify timing settings in FEM_BODY and ensure no conflicts with daytime running lights (DRL) or lighting logic |
| Error messages in vehicle or CANbus faults | Faulty wiring, aftermarket bulbs, or incompatible hardware | Use original OEM bulbs/fog lights and ensure proper connection to the vehicle’s lighting modules |
| Feature only partially working | Vehicle not equipped with required hardware (fog lights, Adaptive LED, or KAFAS2 camera) | Confirm hardware prerequisites before attempting activation |
Important Notes:
- Only original fog lights or Adaptive LED headlights with cornering function are supported.
- Always backup FA and coding data before making changes.
- Using incompatible aftermarket lighting can trigger CANbus errors or prevent the Welcome Light animation from working.
Activating the BMW Welcome Light animation adds a premium, visually striking effect when approaching or unlocking your vehicle, enhancing both aesthetics and safety in low-light conditions.
